OptiFuelUK (“the app”, “we”) helps UK drivers find the cheapest fuel along a planned driving route. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.
All of this lives in iOS’s protected app sandbox. Deleting the app removes everything. You can delete individual recent routes and journeys at any time by swiping left on them inside the app.
| Request | Sent to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Address autocomplete keystrokes | Apple (MKLocalSearch) | To resolve “M62 services” to a coordinate |
| Route calculation requests | Apple (MKDirections) | To compute driving routes and detour distances |

To get the data the app ranks |
Apple’s services are subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy. The UK Government’s Fuel Finder API publishes data under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
The app does NOT send: your location, your vehicle profile, your recent routes, your journey history, your home address, or anything else identifiable.
If you tap “Use current location” when planning a route, iOS asks for the standard When-In-Use permission. The latitude/longitude that comes back is used only to set the route’s start point on your device. It is not transmitted anywhere. Deny the permission and the app continues to work — you just type the start address instead.
When you tap “Apple Maps”, “Google Maps” or “Waze” from a ranked station, the app constructs a deep-link URL (containing the route coordinates) and hands it to iOS to open in the chosen app. From that point onward you’re using the navigation app’s own privacy controls, not ours. We don’t see what happens after the hand-off.
The app is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect data about anyone. Apple’s App Store age rating is 4+.
If we change anything material, the “last updated” date at the top of this page will change too. The latest version of this policy is always at:
